Under this visa option, tourists or visitors can enter Australia to visit their family or friends, for business or medical treatment purposes, or to spend a holiday. Visitor Visa (subclass 600)

Visitor visa (subclass 600) is a temporary visa that lets visitors and tourists visit Australia for personal or business purposes. You can stay up to 3 or 6 or 12 months, as specified in your visa.

  • Under this visa, you can choose from 5 streams:

Tourist Stream (Apply in Australia)

The Tourist stream of Visitor visa (subclass 600) lets you visit family or friends in Australia as a tourist, or for purposes other than business or medical treatment. You can apply for this visa if you are in Australia and the current visa you are holding is expiring soon. You can study or train for up to 3 months on this visa.

Key eligibility criteria:
 You must be in Australia when you apply for this visa and when you are granted the visa
• You must have not stayed in Australia for more than 12 consecutive months

The Sponsored Family stream of Visitor visa (subclass 600) lets you visit your family or friends in Australia to spend a holiday or for a cruise or any purposes other than business or medical treatment. You need to be sponsored by your family to apply for this visa.

You can study or train for up to 3 months on this visa.

Key eligibility criteria:

 You must have a sponsor, that can be either a family member in Australia or an Australian government official
• You must be outside Australia while you apply for this visa

• You must be outside Australia while you apply for this visa

If you are the parent or step-parent of an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and you meet all the visa criteria, you might be granted a longer stay of 18 months. You cannot stay more than 12 consecutive months in Australia.

Sponsored Family Stream

You cannot work while on this visa. You can choose other visas if you wish to work here in Australia.

You can travel in and out of Australia as many times as you want if it is granted on your visa.

If your visa has a single entry clause, you can leave Australia but cannot re-enter. You must apply for another visa to enter again.

You cannot work while on this visa. You can choose other visas if you wish to work here in Australia.

You might already be granted a Visitor visa (subclass 600) Business Visitor stream if you hold an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Card (ABTC).

If allowed, you can enter Australia for a short period of time for business purposes or tourist activities for up to 5 years from the date of issue.

You cannot stay longer than the specified period of time in your grant letter. You must enter and leave Australia with your approved tour group.
